Journalism teachers and students across the state have an opportunity to honor inspiring and dedicated advisers for high school journalism with the Jackie Engel Award.
The nominees must be a teacher in Kansas, and teachers may nominate themselves or be nominated by a student, colleague, administrator or parent. Deadline is March 1.
Nomination packets should include:
-A list of publications the nominee advises.
-Address and phone number of both the nominee and person nominating.
-The nominee’s resume, examples of adviser’s publication(s), and any other materials that would support the nomination.
-A minimum of three letters of recommendation for the award written by students, colleagues or parents.
Nominations should be sent to Anne Christiansen-Bullers, Engel Award Coordinator, Box 7, Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd., Overland Park, KS 66210 and be postmarked by Monday March 1, 2010.
The winner of the Jackie Engel Award will be honored at the KACP spring conference awards luncheon in April in Hutchinson, as well as the KSPA state contest, May 1, in Lawrence.
