Laurel Hansen joined the KSPA staff as a student assistant November 2024. She is a journalism major with a concentration in digital marketing communications. On her high school yearbook staff at Shawnee Mission North, Hansen served for two years as mugs editor and one year as editor-in-chief.
Hansen loves sewing and her favorite TV shows are “Daria,” “Arrested Development” and “Project Runway.”
Hansen said she developed a passion for KSPA during her high school yearbook years.
“My first year on yearbook staff I was very timid and still finding my place. That year I won 5th place at KSPA state for newspaper front page design, something I had never tried before. It was an exciting moment when I first felt that I was good at design and wanted to continue to do it. KSPA contests and events have always given me a place to show off my skills and build community,” Hansen said.
