Kristy Dekat has been a journalism adviser for 23 years. She is the Gardner Edgerton High School publications adviser where she advises the Trailblazer (yearbook) and The Blazer (online news) and teaches introductory journalism and graphic design courses. Her publications have received several All-Kansas awards including the 2023 Trailblazer yearbook. She strives to share her passion for journalism with her students. Dekat is a recognized Master Journalism Educator from the Journalism Education Association.
