Brendan Praeger has been the newspaper adviser at Wabaunsee High School in Alma since 2011. He advises the Charger newspaper, a weekly publication which has received All-Kansas distinction i multiple times, and the Senioritis podcast. He also teaches English, coaches multiple sports and directs the school play each semester. A graduate of Kansas State University, he previously advised the newspaper and yearbook at Manhattan High School and served as a representative on the KSPA board from 2012-13. He strongly advocates for the importance of scholastic journalism, especially as a tool to teach professional communication skills to all students, not just those looking for a career in journalism. He also recognizes the important role student journalism can play in both small and large communities. He lives in Manhattan with his wife, who is also a journalist, and two small children who have already started asking too many questions.
