2013 Fall Conferences set

KSPA’s annual Fall Conference schedule has been set in motion, and advisers should start planning now to bring students from newspaper, yearbook, web and broadcast programs for the educational sessions and on-site critiques. A registration form is at the bottom of this page. Please fill it out, tally up your costs and hit SUBMIT.

The show gets on the road Monday, Sept. 23 as Fort Hays State will host its annual Fall Conference workshops with small-group instruction in design, writing, photography and more. St. Francis High School will be honored for its Class 1A sweepstakes victory at May’s State Contest. Amy DeVault, assistant professor at Wichita State University and an FHSU alumna, will deliver the opening keynote address, while Ron Johnson, the director of Student Media at Indiana University and former student media head at Kansas State, will help DeVault deliver a final keynote. Both DeVault and Johnson will be directing sessions for students during the conference.

The show rolls east to Manhattan on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the KSU Union on the campus of Kansas State University. A keynote from Ron Johnson, the director of Student Media at Indiana University and former student media head at Kansas State, will highlight the day. Chase County HS will be honored for its Class 2A state sweepstakes victory.

Then the conference train will make its last stop on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Kansas Union on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence. A keynote from Ron Johnson will highlight the day, as will the recognition of state sweepstakes and contests winners, including Chase County (2A) Humboldt (3A), Bonner Springs (4A), Mill Valley (5A) and Shawnee Mission North (6A).
