Congratulations to many Sunflower state advisers and students for their work at the NSPA/JEA National Convention April 16-19 in Denver, Co. The list below represents awards presented by both the National Scholastic Press Association and the Journalism Education Association.

National High School Journalist of the Year

Congratulations to Julia Poe of Shawnee Mission East High School for earning the honor of National High School Journalist of the Year. The announcement was made Sunday at the final awards ceremony of the convention. Poe also receives the $3,000 Sister Rita Jeanne Abicht Scholarship from the Journalism Education Association. Congratulations to Julia, her adviser Dow Tate and her fellow staff members on the Harbinger and Harbinger Online.
