ESU and KSU report regional contest winners

KSPA wrapped up its most hectic regional contest season Tuesday with the release of results for both the Emporia State (ESU) and Kansas State (KSU) regionals. Because of Winter Storm “Q” and the blizzard that it spawned, both regionals had to be canceled on Thursday, Feb. 21, their scheduled dates, and moved to individual schools.

A second blizzard that blanketed eastern Kansas on Tuesday, Feb. 26, made it impossible for many schools in those regionals to complete the off-site competitions in time to get entries to the contest coordinators and judges.

“Quite honestly, it’s a miracle those two were completed as early as they have been,” said Jeff Browne, KSPA executive director. “All of the contest coordinators and judges at every site should be commended for their hard work in the face of adversity. Our contests are vital to KSPA, and we must make sure they operate with integrity and professionalism. Mission accomplished.”

Results are below. Results from the other four regional contests were posted Friday, March 8.
