Three 2011 yearbooks from the Shawnee Mission School District have been named finalists in the National Scholastic Press Association’s Pacemaker competition. Books from East, North and Northwest all will be up for scholastic journalism’s highest honor in April at the NSPA national convention in Seattle.
The three yearbooks were among 55 named finalists. More than 400 yearbooks from around the country entered the competition.
Here are our state’s finalists:
- The Hauberk, Shawnee Mission East; Hannah Walter, editor; C. Dow Tate, adviser.
- The Indian, Shawnee Mission North; Annie Basham and Alexis Reid, editors; Becky Lucas Tate, adviser.
- The Lair, Shawnee Mission Northwest; Lauren Minick, editor; Susan Massy, adviser.
